SkillsUSA recently held the 53rd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical educated students. Students, teachers and business partners participate in the weeklong event.

Jim Brandewie from Baumfolder attended this week long event to judge the competition for  Bindery.  The first part of the test was a hands on test (pictured above) to set up the BAUM 714XLT Table Top Folder to do 2 different types of folds on 8.5 x 11 inch paper.  The students had to produce sheets of the folded products to show it folded correctly for each type of fold.  Along with the hands on test, the students were given a short written test on how a Cutter works and a general test on Bindery.

The SkillsUSA Championships had more than 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students –– all state contest winners –– that competed hands-on in 100 different trade, technical and leadership fields. Students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations such as electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts. Contests were run with the help of industry, trade associations and labor organizations.

Please join with us in congratulating all of these talented students that participated in the event.
