What is batch counting and why do you need it?

The simple industry definition for batch counting is the ability to piece count a precise number of product and group them based on a verity of project needs. Having this added feature on your folding system, will allow you to count a set number of products ran and also batch into grouped quantities.

Graphic arts companies that run greeting cards with the same card design that is sent out to a few different customers will count and batch set quantities needed for each customer and batch them together. These companies can score and fold the same product for multiple customers without having to start and stop between jobs.

Mailing industry whether you are sorting and mailing coupons, catalogs, or post cards most things in the mailing industry are address and zip code sorted. The feature of batch counting in this industry is a must.

A company producing a flyer that will be sent out to homeowners covering multiple counties can batch the flyers in the needed assorted quantities for each county. In some cases the batching option on some folders will allow you to also set a count and batch the flyers needed for each zip code within the county. This is called batching within batching, and will same a company time and money by removing the need to sort by hand or rerun the material.

Batching counting is a time saving, costing reducing way to handle many project needs. It can also save your back. When running a large amount of product/ material the weight and handling of that material can be a back breaking, joggling affair.

Batching can allow you to set a reasonable batched load that keeps your employees from having to handle heavy oddly shaped product that could be dropped damaged or worst cause a work place injury.

Most of the product you send and ship is packaged. Setting your batch counter to the amount of finished product your box can hold can be a great way to save time. Stopping production and manually counting the product to make sure you don’t under fill or over fill your boxes.
